"BEST FACIAL FOR HORMONAL/PROBLEM SKIN"

This skin care guru has been featured in Elle, InStyle, Sports Illustrated, BRIDES, on "Entertainment Tonight," "Good Morning America" and more. She's also adored by her clients because she thinks about skin from the inside out (medications and food allergies can affect your face, for starters).

"The Fix: Hydrating Serums and Vitamin C;
The Pro: Dana Chasen Thomases, Master Esthetician"

As summer turns to fall we start to lose much of the humidity in the air, which can leave our skin feeling, and looking, dehydrated. Try adding a hyaluronic acid serum to your skin care routine to draw water molecules from the air and help them bind to your skin.If you don’t already have a product in your skincare routine that contains Vitamin C and additional antioxidants, fall is a good time to add one to combat damage from excess sun exposure, and free radicals, that can peak during the summer months. Environ Antioxidant Defense Creme is a lightweight cream that can be used on it’s own, or mixed with your current moisturizer, to repair environmental damage.

"DRY SKIN: 8 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR MAKEUP LAST"

No matter what the sales person at the cosmetics counter tells you, if your skin is prone to flaking you do not need to wear powder, says Boston makeup artist Dana Chasen Thomases. If your skin is dry, but you occasionally get shiny in your T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin), you can dust a bit of powder just in the center of your face over those areas. Otherwise, skip it altogether. By definition, dry skin produces very little oil, so using moisturizer to help balance your skin's natural dryness is essential.Instead of a lotion, use a thicker cream that specifically caters to dry skin types. Moisturizers or serums that contain hyaluronic acid, an ingredient that helps skin retain moisture, can also be helpful. On dry skin types, moisturizer should be applied all over the face, including the neck and decolletage, Chasen Thomases says.

"EYEBROW KNOW HOW"

Dana Chasen Thomases, a makeup and eyebrow-sculpting maven who has styled arches for Ivana Trump and Bethenny Frankel, says that one of the biggest mistakes people make is using too-dull tools. Chasen Thomases recommends Rubis slanted- tip tweezers. “The best way to aim for an even shape is to remove hairs row by row, removing a few more hairs for definition at the brow’s natural arch, which should be just beyond the iris of your eye,” says Chasen Thomases. “Unless you’re just cleaning up a few strays, avoid removing hairs from the ends of your brows, as it can be easy to make brows too short by mistake.”

"MILLION DOLLAR BB"

In the beauty world, the latest mystery product to become a must-have is BB cream…Skincare consultant Dana Chasen Thomases offers information and tips on the cream currently flooding the market. Ingredients to look for: SPF (in the form of zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) , antioxidants (like Vitamin C), skin brighteners (kojic acid or arbutin, both plant-based, are good alternatives to harsher hydroquinone).

"4 WAYS TO KEEP SKIN GLOWING"

Women with dry skin should use liquid or cream foundations that contain oil. If you don't need a lot of coverage from your foundation you may like using a tinted moisturizer. However, it's important to understand that tinted moisturizer should not replace a regular moisturizer. The cosmetic term "tinted moisturizer" is really just code for "sheer foundation.” BB creams have also become popular lately and often contain good hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamin B. If you notice your makeup beginning to flake chances are a build-up of dead skin is to blame. Incorporate an exfoliator into your weekly skin care routine and remember to moisturize daily. Getting a facial at least once a season also greatly improves your skin's ability to retain moisture. For a midday moisture boost you can carry a travel sized hydrating toner. A few spritzes will help dry skin stay calm and hydrated.

"2011 BEST EYEBROW SHAPING"

Dana Chasen Thomases likes to compare eyebrow grooming to the art of bonsai, and her disciplined approach to creating perfect shapes is why skin care pro Brad Duncan tapped this standout makeup artist and clinical aesthetician to join his staff last fall. After deploying the gentlest of hard waxes, she draws on a decade's worth of eyebrow-refining experience to tweeze away strays and smooth contours. All this in less than half an hour.
