This superstar masque has a unique clay base that absorbs excess surface oils and gently polishes the skin’s surface, leaving it feeling smoother and looking more radiant and refined.
Not gritty in the least this mask micro-exfoliates using Kaolin Clay. Kaolin has a molecular shape like a snowflake and as it sets in to, or is massaged over the skin, the snowflake-like arms grab hold of surface dead skin and assist in removing it.
Hydrating Clay Masque is a multi-tasking masque that may be used as a daily micro-exfoliant, as a 20 minute hydrating masque, or as an overnight masque, applied as the last layer over your nighttime product routine, to push hydration deeper into your skin.
KAOLIN CLAY a hydrating and gently exfoliating clay.
TOCOPHERYL ACETATE (Vitamin E) nourishes, and improves the skin’s natural moisturizIng factors, making the skin look plumper and firmer. Helps to quench free radicals, enhancing the effects of the skin’s natural sun protectors.
PANTHENOL (PRO-VITAMIN B5) helps to soothe and hydrate skin. Promotes wound healing, reduces inflammation, reduces transepidermal water loss, all of which improve skin texture.
BARLEY SEED (Hordeum Vulgare) EXTRACT rich in phenols and flavonoids, which both provide excellent antioxidant activity. Antioxidants repair free radical, UV and environmental damage to the skin that results in premature signs of aging.
MINERAL OIL mineral oil is an efficacious skin moisturizer providing occlusivity and emolliency. Its occlusive effects minimize transepidermal water loss, which is essential in relieving dry, flaky skin where the skin’s barrier may be compromised.
Cosmetics-grade mineral oil is considered the safest, most non-sensitizing moisturizing ingredients ever found.
Mineral oil often gets a bad reputation for clogging skin, because it sits on the skin’s surface, as well as a reputation for making skin more sensitive to UV light, but recent studies prove otherwise. Early studies showing that mineral oil caused skin clogging were done on animals, whose pore structure and increased tendency towards clogging, was different from humans. Studies suggesting that mineral oil caused sun sensitivity were performed on animals that were highly sensitive to UV light, again with cellular structure unlike humans. These photosensitive results have not been found to have the same effect on human skin.
Some people feel that mineral oil’s tendency to sit on top of the skin and create an occlusive barrier can lead to clogging, which is why a) this product is not especially beneficial for very oily skin types b) this treatment is not typically recommended for daily use and c) when we do recommend Hydrating Clay Masque for more frequent use it is for dry, damaged skin types that are not producing enough oil to experience clogging, in fact, for those skin types mineral oil’s ability to create an occlusive barrier improves skin’s level of hydration and promotes healing.

Hydrating Clay Masque is a multi-tasking masque that could be applied as either a quick, gentle facial micro-exfoliator or alternatively as a hydrating masque.
This masque is gentle enough to use two or three times a week.
When used as a micro-exfoliant:
Apply the Hydrating Clay Masque over the Dual Action Pre-Cleansing Oil. Micro-exfoliate by massaging with your fingertips in a circular motion. Massage until the masque is fully absorbed and it feels like you can no longer manipulate it. Remove the last traces of the masque with your preferred cleanser.
When used as a hydrating masque:
After pre-cleansing, cleansing and toning, if desired, apply the Hydrating Clay Masque evenly over the face and leave on for 10-20 minutes. The masque becomes transparent as it dries. To remove the masque, wet your fingertips and briefly massage the excess product on the face.
Remove all product by rinsing the face and neck and then cleansing or toning.
When used as an overnight masque:
First apply your evening skin regime. Follow with a thin layer of the Hydrating Clay Masque and leave on overnight. Remove the next morning with your preferred cleanser and follow with your morning skin routine.
Possibly our favorite use for this masque is when worn on an airplane! Apply hydrating serums and/or oils, and layer Hydrating Clay Masque on top. Massage in until the masque disappears into your skin. Rinse off at anytime once you reach your destination. This locks hydration into your skin and keeps bacteria out.
